Week 3 Collaborate- Sites

Today we began by revisiting CREATE. The discussion reinforced using blogs
or other digital sources to share the children’s talents and give them power
to show/share without having to be physical. It is time to include a variety
of ways to express that are not traditional but, using all the senses and the
device as a tool.
There are some challenges in my own classroom due to limited devices/ipads
but this can be overcome by allowing the students time to explore these
tools and how they can use them to create their own learning in smaller groups.

UDL: Universal Design for Learning
* Giving students multiple opportunities to interact with the learning

In the beginning of this journey, start with...Scaffolding of a task to
show what the task should look like using the different tools that they
have available. When they have a greater understanding beginning to
allow more choice. Then give 3 choices and allow the students to create
using the prior learning.

Celebrations
Created by Abby Johnstone and Racheal Thomas
Creating a Google Site today was almost overwhelming, however with
the support of Abby and cooperatively creating a site I am feeling that
I can now work on a  learning site for my own class, starting with a group
and then moving forward. Having the shared spreadsheet to refer to
is also a valuable resource.

Using the Google Sites 101 as a reference to support the application
of the different aspects.

  1. Rachel, this is fantastic to read. It is wonderful to hear that you feel confident enough to have a go at your own class site. Remember we will be covering sites in future sessions so keep thinking about your ideas and writing them down in Google Keep, so we can support you with them in this amazing 1:1 time at the DFI. Your Celebrations site is such an eye opener for me, as I have never considered Celebrations could cover such a vast area. Thanks for putting it together with Abby.
